Jing Wen 敬文

Known as the "Pomegranate Painter," Jing Wen has spent over four years exclusively focused on this theme, creating a remarkable series that, by now, comprises 104 paintings, with 60 already gracing private collections.

Jing Wen's unwavering dedication to this singular subject is both inspiring and challenging. While many artists are drawn to the vast array of landscapes, flora, fauna, and architectural marvels the world offers, she has chosen to explore the depths of a seemingly simple fruit, the pomegranate, which holds profound cultural significance. The artist masterfully captures the vibrant allure of the soft-seed pomegranate, celebrated for its striking red seeds and lustrous skin. 

Jing Wen's technique seamlessly blends traditional Chinese painting methods with the delicate use of watercolour on both raw rice paper and classic watercolour paper, resulting in a unique and captivating visual style. The artist’s participation in plein air painting sessions occasionally adds a refreshing perspective, enhancing the primary focus on pomegranates.
